Man wounded in shooting on Freedom Drive
BELLEVILLE A 46-year-old man was shot in the lower abdomen and in his leg Saturday morning on Freedom Drive, Belleville Police said.
According to police, officers responded shortly before 2 a.m. after two males got out of a gray sedan in the 200 block of Freedom Drive and began firing shots at the victim, striking him twice.
The 46-year-old man, whose name was not released, was taken to a St. Louis hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
“Detectives are early in the investigation, and are conducting interviews to attempt to gather more information,” a police news release said. “The victim did not provide detailed descriptions of the suspects.”
Police added there is no information to connect the shooting to a shooting on Freedom Drive on June 13.
