Here’s how to share your ideas for BND coverage of the pandemic in southwestern IL

Greetings from the Belleville News-Democrat newsroom.

We’re reaching out today to ask for your feedback and ideas about covering the COVID-19 pandemic. What should the next chapter of BND coverage look like?

We’ve shaped our coverage since the beginning of the pandemic last year with you in mind, from daily, data-driven reports to breaking news to stories about how the virus has affected life in our communities. We’ve worked hard on your behalf to hold state and local governments and public officials accountable, posted q and a’s and explainers and reported on other pandemic-related topics.

Now it’s time to reassess our coverage and your needs as our region continues with vaccinations and slowly begins to reopen. We want to continue reporting coronavirus news of the day with depth and context, but we need your help in identifying other story ideas, topics and reporting paths that matter most to you.

What are you looking for in coverage going forward?

What’s important to you? Do you have specific story ideas or questions that you want answered? How often do you want the BND to publish detailed statistics about coronavirus cases, vaccinations, hospitalizations, deaths and similar data?

If you would like to weigh in on this coverage, please take this short survey at bit.ly/bndcovid, or send your thoughts to jcouch@bnd.com.

We look forward to hearing from you.

And as always, we thank you for your support.
