Portion of Illinois Route 3 near I-255 closes due to breaking pavement from heat

A 1.5 mile stretch of Illinois State Route 3 near Dupo has been closed until further notice due to the road buckling from intense heat.

A portion of the route that stretches between Stolle Road and I-255 has been closed until further notice, according to St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency.

The agency said the closure came after portions of the road were “breaking.”
