Highland experiencing a city-wide power outage, electric department reports

Highland’s Electric Department announced Friday morning the city was experiencing a city-wide power outage.

The department said at around 10 a.m. it was working to determine the cause and restore power.

According to its website, Highland’s electric system serves 5,257 residential, 572 commercial and 193 industrial customers spread out across 64 square miles.

The department said it would perform a “mass meter” change out and upgrade today between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in several areas of the cities. However, it’s not clear if the problem is related to the work.
