A chance of storms Thursday, then cooler temperatures

Afternoon thunderstorms are possible Thursday in the metro-east.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for a 50 percent chance of rain with the best chance of wet weather coming during the afternoon.

The high temperature will be 93.

Skies are expected to clear up and become mostly sunny after that – at least for a while.

There is a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms Thursday night, especially late. The low will be 72.

Storms are likely again Friday with a 70 percent chance during the day. The high temperature will reach only about 80.

The chance of storms will decrease slightly to 60 percent Friday night when the low will be 64.

The sun will return for the weekend. But cooler temperatures are expected to remain.

It will be mostly sunny Saturday with a high of 79 during the day. It will be mostly clear with a low of 62 overnight.

On Sunday, it will be 80 with mostly sunny skies during the day. At night, a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms is in the forecast with a low of 65.
