Woman killed in head-on collision crash in Randolph County

A Percy woman is dead after a two-vehicle traffic crash in Randolph County Wednesday morning.

The crash happened at approximately 11:25 a.m. on Illinois 4 at Roseborough Road. The victim was identified as Lila L. Ashby, 83, of Percy.

According to Illinois State Police, Ashby was driving a green 2009 Pontiac G6 southbound while Luke R. Sale, 26, of Red Bud was driving a 2013 Freightliner Conventional 4x2 truck northbound at the same location.

For an unknown reason, Ashby crossed into the northbound lane and struck Sale’s vehicle head-on, state police said.

Ashby was pronounced dead at the scene. Sale was transported to an area hospital injuries and issued a citation for driving without a valid license/permit.
