IDOT announces more lane closures on I-270 in Madison County
The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced lane closures on Interstate 270 over the Mississippi River at the Chain of Rocks Bridge.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane westbound on Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and eastbound on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
These lane closures are necessary to allow IDOT bridge inspections, according to IDOT.
Drivers can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when able to, use alternate routes.
IDOT urges drivers to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
