Visitation, funeral services set for slain Pontoon Beach police officer
The visitation and funeral services have been scheduled for Tyler Timmins, the Pontoon Beach police officer who was fatally shot at a gas station Tuesday morning.
The visitation will be 1-7 p.m. Monday at the Gateway Convention Center at 1 Gateway Drive in Collinsville with a first responders walk-through beginning at 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Gateway Convention Center and Pastor Jarad Corzine will officiate.
A private burial will be in Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton.
“Tyler was a loving father, husband, brother, son, uncle, cousin and friend to all,” according to his obituary. “He will be remembered as a very loving, loyal and kind man who never met a stranger and had a servant’s heart of gold.”
Timmins, 36, was a veteran police officer in Madison County. He joined the Pontoon Beach Police Department in April 2020.
He was shot when he approached what he believed to be a stolen pickup truck at the Speedway gas station at the intersection of Illinois 111 and Interstate 270.
A Highland man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting.
Marks Mortuary in Wood River is handling the funeral arrangements.
