Fairview Heights CBD shop celebrating its remodel with a grand reopening event today
A newly remodeled cannabis and kratom retail shop in Fairview Heights will celebrate its grand re-opening Saturday.
The event at CBD Kratom, located at 10300 Lincoln Trail, is from 5-8 p.m. Saturday. It is family-friendly and will feature traditional trick-or-treat candy as well as an area for other treats, prizes and an Instagram giveaway, according to a release.
Ocean Cohen, director of retail growth and development for CBD Kratom, said that the Instagram giveaway would give customers the chance to win a basket of products and branded merchandise. To enter, customers must take a selfie with the new art wall, tag CBD Kratom or Mr. Nice Guy and post on Instagram over the weekend.
Associates will hand out candy from decorated cars, each from a different area store location, in the parking lot during the event. The CBD Kratom event van will also be on site, distributing goody bags to adults in attendance.
Customers who make an in-store purchase of $8 or more will have the opportunity to spin to win prizes on the giveaway wheel. The wheel will spin from 5-10 p.m. Saturday.
The release also stated that customer shopping bags will contain $10 off a $30 purchase discount card, valid at the Fairview Heights location.
“We invite customers and the community to come out and see our fantastic fully remodeled store while taking part in a family friendly event that will offer Halloween fun for everyone,” said Cohen.
CBD Kratom provides customers with a large selection of high-quality, natural cannabidiol (CBD) and kratom products, and shares space with Mr. Nice Guy head shop. The store opened in April 2017.
The look and feel of the store has undergone a big change. The store previously featured brightly-colored red, yellow and green walls and decor and included an image of Bob Marley in the window.
“Our more spacious store has received quite a makeover with eye-catching colors and a very cool retro psychedelic wall. The remodel really makes the whole shopping experience even better for our customers,” Cohen stated in the release.
The new style now matches that of other store locations throughout the U.S. It’s modern and decked out in earth tones, giving a natural feel that suits the CBD and kratom products they sell. The wood used in the countertops and display cases were made from reclaimed barn wood, according to Cohen.
Cohen feels the neutral look is more welcoming and will appeal to more customers.
As part of the remodel, CBD Kratom swapped store space with Mr. Nice Guy, providing more space for the CBD and kratom products. Cohen said that most of their customers want the products more than they want the glass.
The room that now houses the merchandise for Mr. Nice Guy is lined with glass cases that hold the glass pipes, hookahs, vape pens and other items. Cohen refers to the room as the “Gallery of Glass,” a worthy name in that many of the pieces are works of art made by different artists.
A new psychedelic wall design, inspired by the swirling colors of glass blowing, will feature on the back wall.
During the remodel, the store stayed open for curbside service. Cohen expressed her gratitude to the employees, who would run back and forth to take trays of merchandise to individual cars for customers to view and to handle transactions. She’s equally grateful to the customers, who were patient and understanding through it all.
CBD Kratom also has locations in Belleville and Alton, with multiple stores throughout the St. Louis area and in other major U.S. cities. Additional locations have recently opened on the East Coast, and there are plans to open 17 more stores in 2022, according to Cohen.
Mr. Nice Guy Fairview Heights is one of six St. Louis-area locations.
