Pedestrian dies after being struck by a car on North Green Mount Road in Shiloh
A 30-year-old man was struck and killed by a car Saturday morning in Shiloh.
The victim was identified as Christopher Leverette of O’Fallon, according to a news release from the Shiloh Police Department.
Leverette had just exited a Metro Bus and was crossing North Green Mount Road.
He walked underneath a semi-trailer that was stopped in the southbound center turn lane on North Green Mount Road, as it waited at a traffic light so it could turn onto Green Mount Crossing Drive, according to the release.
A car traveling north on Green Mount Road struck Leverette as he emerged from beneath the semi-trailer, the release states.
Leverette was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to St. Louis, where he was later pronounced dead, the release states.
The accident remains under investigation. The driver of the car has been “fully cooperative” with the ongoing investigation, police said.
