Three people killed, two critically injured in west St. Louis County car accident

Three people believed to be teenagers were killed early Sunday in a single-car crash in west St. Louis County, police said.

Two others were critically injured, according to a release from the St. Louis County Police Department.

The identities of the victims have not been released. They are believed to be in their mid- to late-teens, police said.

The accident along Kiefer Creek Road near Forest Valley Drive was reported at 4:09 a.m.

``Upon arrival, responding officers located a motor vehicle fully engulfed in flames. The vehicle had struck a tree,” the release states. “Preliminary investigation has revealed the vehicle, a Nissan Maxima, was travelling eastbound on Kiefer Creek Road near Forest Valley Road when it left the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle then caught fire.”

Officers from the West County Precinct and the Accident Reconstruction Unit are investigating.
