St. Clair County man killed in single-car rollover in East St. Louis

A Washington Park man died in a single vehicle rollover crash in East St. Louis Tuesday night.
According to East St. Louis Police, officers were dispatched to Eighth Street and Mississippi Avenue to investigate a report of a single vehicle accident at about 10:18 p.m. Tuesday.
St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. identified the victim as Deonte L. Lampkins, of the 5400 block of Rosemont, in Washington Park.
At the scene, police found the green SUV Lampkins was driving on its side. Lampkins’ body was in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:55 p.m., Dye said.
A female passenger also was ejected from the vehicle. Her condition was not available.
Police said a witness told officers the car flipped over several times. No details were released as to whether speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
East St. Louis police said the incident is being investigated by an Illinois State Police traffic crash reconstruction team.
