Two people killed in head-on collision in Clinton County, Illinois State Police say

A woman and a man died in a fiery, head-on crash on U.S. 50 in Clinton County on Tuesday afternoon.
Tracy M. Loyd, 51, of Okawville, and Michael J. Brown, 20, of Trenton, perished in the crash, according to a news release issued Wednesday by Illinois State Police.
Loyd was driving a 2003 Ford east on U.S. 50 near St. Rose Road when her vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound 2018 Dodge driven by Brown, according to a preliminary investigation by state troopers.
The Dodge caught on fire after the impact, which occurred at about 12:42 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
Loyd and Brown were both pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation and no further information was released on Wednesday.
