BND poll results: Readers choose their favorite downtown Belleville special event

Good morning, BND readers!

Thank you everyone who participated in the recent BND poll asking you to vote for your favorite downtown Belleville event.

The poll is now closed and the results are in, but we’ll get to those in a moment.

First, some context and background.

This was our first BND poll using a new tool that makes it easy for readers to weigh in on the question of the moment. There will be more to come.

In fact, we would welcome your ideas on fun topics for future ``vote for your favorite” polls. Please send your suggestions to newsroom@bnd.com and include ``polls” in the subject space on the email.

So now to the results of this very unscientific poll (Afterall, you could vote as many times as you wanted.)

The question was: ``What is your favorite special event in downtown Belleville?” We listed 19 events from which to choose.

Here are the top results in order:

1st place: Chili-Cookoff, 27 % of the votes

2nd place: Art on the Square, 16%

3rd place: Old Belleville Historical Luminary Walk, 13%

4th place: Oktoberfest, 10%

5th place: (tied) Santa Parade, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Christkindlemarkt, each at 7%

6th place: Ainad Shriners Parade, 4%

7th place: Santa’s House, 2%

All the other events listed in the poll received at least one vote each.
