Repair work planned along interstate in East St. Louis could cause delays Wednesday

Interstate 55 commuters who travel through the East St. Louis area could face delays from repair work Wednesday, starting around 7 a.m.

The Illinois Department of Transportation said the left lane on northbound I-55, between the I-55/I-64 split and Exchange Avenue, will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for drainage repairs. Exit and entrance ramps will stay open, according to a news release from the department.

The department advised motorists to allow extra travel time if they will be driving through this area.
