East St. Louis announces new city hall schedule due to rising COVID-19 cases

Due to a recent surge in COVID-19 cases, East St. Louis City Hall will operate on a new schedule and take other steps to help residents, according to a press release sent from the mayor’s office on Tuesday afternoon.

The city government will implement the new schedule on Wednesday to safely serve East St. Louis residents. Here are the times each department will be available in-person:

  • Monday and Wednesday- 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. : Human Resources, Finance, City Manager, Mayor’s Office and Board of Elections
  • Tuesday and Thursday- 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. : Public Works, Regulatory Affairs, Police and Fire Administration
  • Monday - Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. : Economic Development
  • Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. : City Clerk, Treasurer’s Office

“There has been an increase in cases, and we are particularly concerned about providing services to our residents in a safe and efficient manner.

“In addition, we are working with the East St. Louis Health Department to set up COVID-19 test sites throughout the city and East St. Louis School District 189 to make sure that our students have access to mobile hotspots to ensure that they have the tools they need for successful remote learning,” Mayor Robert Eastern III said in Tuesday’s press release.

Staff in each department will be tested weekly. Anyone with questions can call City Hall at 618-482-6600.
