Here’s a look at how much snow fell in the region. What’s the forecast for next week?
Across Illinois and Missouri, snowfall ranged from 4 inches to less than an inch by Saturday morning amid the St. Louis region’s first snowstorm.
Here are some area snow totals as of 6 a.m. Saturday, according to the St. Louis office of the National Weather Service:
- Hannibal, Missouri (about 115 miles from St. Louis): 4 inches
- Jerseyville: 3.5 inches
- Grafton: 3.3 inches
- St. Louis: 1.5 inches
- Chesterfield: 0.7 inches
The agency said Hannibal’s snow total increased to 5.5 inches by 10 a.m. Farther north, Ewing, Missouri, reported 7.5 inches of snow. St. Louis reached 2.5 inches.
Updates for southwestern Illinois towns weren’t immediately available Saturday.
The National Weather Service’s St. Louis office had issued an weather advisory, reminding drivers to plan on slippery road conditions and urging them to slow down and use caution.
Roads were reported to be partly covered in snow in southwestern Illinois and St. Louis throughout the morning, according to state departments of transportation.
The National Weather Service forecast a warming trend in the region through Tuesday with temperatures turning colder Wednesday and Thursday.
Here are the predicted high temperatures:
- Sunday: 30-35 degrees
- Monday: 35-40 degrees
- Tuesday: 45-50 degrees
- Wednesday: 25-40 degrees
- Thursday: 20-25 degrees
