Woman killed after striking tree in rural southern Illinois car accident
A 31-year-old woman died Saturday in an early-morning car accident in rural southern Illinois, according to law enforcement.
Wendy S. Dunfee’s car left the road in Richland County and struck a tree about 2 a.m., Illinois State Police said.
Dunfee, of Sumner, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police. The area of the crash was described as Elbow Road just west of Higgins Switch Road.
Illinois State Police stated in a news release that no further information was available.
