Work along Interstate 270 in Madison County may cause commuter delays this week
The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced a lane closure for eastbound traffic on I-270 between the Mississippi River and the canal in Madison County.
On Wednesday and Thursday, traffic will be reduced to one lane heading east from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The lane closure is due to geotechnical exploration and soil borings being done for a project along the highway.
State transportation officials advise motorists to allow extra time to travel through the area or to find alternative routes.
