IDOT to shift Illinois 15 work to westbound bridge
The first phase to replace the Illinois 15 bridges over Illinois 13 and the Illinois Central Railroad is complete, the Illinois Department of Transportation said.
Eastbound traffic is set to be shifted onto the new bridges on Tuesday, while westbound traffic is scheduled to be shifted onto the new bridges by July 10, weather permitting, IDOT said.
Once traffic is moved onto the new bridges, work will then begin to remove and reconstruct the old westbound bridge. This part of the project is expected to be completed by late spring of next year, IDOT said.
The project, which started in 2012, has faced design delays.
