Here’s who is leading the poll on readers’ favorite southwest Illinois coffee shop
We’re three days into our latest reader poll for favorite coffee shop in southwest Illinois.
I have to say, we’re off to a slower start than I expected with little more than 900 votes as of Monday morning.
I guess people were in football mode all weekend, what with the Big Game and all. Will the votes pick up after we get through the post-game slump? (More coffee will help!)
Will Valentine’s Day also slow down the activity?
We shall see.
For now, here’s where our contenders stand:
Holding strong in first place is Sacred Grounds Café in Edwardsville.
By 5 p.m. Friday, Sacred Grounds already had a big lead for first with more than 50% of the votes.
This morning, they still have the lead with 33% of the votes, but the gap between them and second place has narrowed quite a bit. They now lead by fewer than 100 votes.
Currently in second place is The Abbey Espresso Bar & Café of Belleville, which has climbed its way up from fourth place since Friday and now has 24% of the votes.
Goshen Coffee Café dropped to third place as it was overtaken by The Abbey. Will they be able to make a comeback?
Balance Coffee & Tea is now in fourth place (previously in fifth), with Café de Shell, located within Roxana High School, dropping from third to sit in fifth place.
And there you have it, the top five as of Monday morning.
Will these five coffee shops stay in the top five? Will others rise up to replace them?
