Property tax payments due in St. Clair, Madison counties
The first installments of property tax payments in St. Clair County are due on Wednesday, July 1. Bills were sent out in May.
The second payments are due in September.
People can pay their property tax bill at the St. Clair County website, http://www.co.st-clair.il.us/.
According to the St. Clair County website, many people pay their property taxes through an escrow account of their mortgage company. Property owners should check with their mortgage companies if they are unsure if taxes are escrowed, the county treasurer’s office says.
In Madison County, property owners can pay in four installments. The first one is due on July 9. Subsequent installments are due on Sept. 9, Oct. 9 and Dec. 9. Property taxpayers who plan to schedule installments must set them up by July 8, so payments are withdrawn on the due date.
Madison County property owners can pay their bills online or schedule payments at www.madcotreasurer.org.
People who did not receive their tax bill should call their county treasurer’s office. Regardless if a bill is received or not, a property taxpayer is still responsible for paying property taxes owed.
