With roads expected to become icy, southwest Illinois schools close early
Metro-east school superintendents who did not previously schedule remote learning or cancel classes decided late Thursday morning to end classes early in the afternoon because forecasters said roads may become icy.
Here are schools that have made announcements about early dismissal or after-school activities being canceled:
Belleville East High School: Dismiss at 1:30 p.m.
Belleville West High School: Dismiss at 1:30 p.m.
Belleville School District 118: All after-school activities, including latchkey, have been canceled for Thursday.
Collinsville High School: Dismiss at 1 p.m.
Collinsville Middle School and Dorris Intermediate: Dismiss at 1:50 p.m.
Collinsville School District: Y-Club and all after school activities are canceled for Thursday evening.
East St. Louis School District 189: After-school programs, evening school and athletic events are canceled for Thursday.
Edwardsville School District 7:
Edwardsville High School closed at 11:50 a.m.
Both middle schools closed at 12:50 p.m.
All elementary schools will be dismissed at 1:50 p.m. Afternoon preschool will be canceled.
Hollywood Heights will dismiss at 1:30 p.m., which is the normal time.
O’Fallon Township High School: All after-school activities have been canceled for Thursday.
Pontiac-William Holliday School District 105: Dismiss at 1:30 p.m.
