Woman dies after being struck by car at a Granite City intersection, police say

A Collinsville woman was struck by a car in Granite City Tuesday morning and later died from her injuries, police said.

Granite City Police identified the woman as Christine K. Clark, 68.

Officers responded to the call at the intersection of 20th Street and Iowa Street at approximately 6:20 a.m., according to a press release from the Granite City Police Department.

Officers and paramedics found Clark, who had been on foot, unresponsive and with life-threatening injuries. She was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Granite City police detectives, the Madison County coroner’s office and the Metro East Crash Assistance Team are currently investigating the incident.

Due to the ongoing investigation, no further information is being shared at this time, police said.
