Southwestern Illinois ice cream shops are beginning to open for the season. Here’s a list
This week’s gorgeous spring-like weather has inspired me.
Not really. The warmer weather is just making me crave ice cream.
And I don’t care that it’s only just after 9 a.m. at the time of this writing.
It started me thinking about some of the local ice cream and custard shops that closed for the winter and should be opening soon.
And by soon, I mean now. Places are opening for the season!
Here’s a list of ice cream places to get you in a warm-weather mood:
Dairy Haven, 112 N. Main St., Caseyville. 618-345-8866. Now open. Noon to 9 p.m. daily. Cash only.
Sling N’ Scoops, 204 S. Main St., Red Bud. 618-791-3965. Now open. 3-7 p.m. Friday-Sunday.
Annie’s Frozen Custard, 245 S. Buchanan St., Edwardsville. 618-656-0289. Now open. 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
Route 66 Creamery, 11 S. Old Route 66, Hamel. 618-633-2688. Now open. 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Grill open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, 6723 Chippewa, St. Louis. 314-481-2652. Now open. Opens 11 a.m. daily.
The Dairy Bar, 2673 E. 28th St., Granite City. 618-876-6852. Now open. Noon to 9 p.m. daily.
