Here are 10 events to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day holiday in southwest IL and St. Louis

Kiss me, I’m Irish!

Actually don’t kiss me; I don’t know you. And I’m not really Irish (as far as I know).

And before you ask, no, I don’t wear green for St. Paddy’s Day. I get a lot of “Your name is Green, and you’re wearing green …” (insert eye roll here).

But every year for St. Patrick’s Day, everyone gets to be Irish, including me and my coffee.

So enjoy a shepherd’s pie, chug some green beer (or a warm Guinness) and choose one of these events to celebrate the day!

Ancient Order of the Hibernians Parade — 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12. Downtown Belleville. The parade line-up is at North 3rd Street from West A to West C streets. The parade route will traverse Main Street going east. facebook.com/events/1811588689231367

Millstadt Leprechaun Crawl — 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 12. Millstadt. Registration starts at 11 a.m. and concludes by 1 p.m. at the Millstadt VFW, 200 Veterans Drive. Downtown Alton St. Pat’s Pub Crawl — 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 12. Downtown Alton. Downtown Alton is gearing up to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. There will be a free shuttle available providing transportation to participating bars and restaurants throughout the day. Stop in and sample all the food and drink specials from the participating locations. Each bar or restaurant will set pricing for their St. Pat’s special. stpatsalton.com

Get your green on and celebrate all things Irish and the coming of spring with your friends in Downtown Belleville. St. Patrick’s Day Grub Crawl — 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 17. Downtown O’Fallon. Eat, drink and be Irish! Join us for a wee bit o’ fun at O’Fallon’s first St. Patricks Day Grub Crawl. Come out in your greenest green and make your way around downtown to the participating pubs. They’ll each be offering a different Irish dish around $5 and a lucky drink special. St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt at Up-Down — 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17. Up-Down STL, 405 N. Euclid, St. Louis. Come out for some fun and adventure this St Patrick’s Day at Up-Down. St. Paddy’s Day 5K Walk/Run — 8-11 a.m. Saturday, March 19. Monroe County Courthouse Square, Downtown Waterloo. Awards and Prizes for the top male and female runners. Top three finishers in each age group will receive medals. All kids will receive a medal. Attendance prizes, refreshments, and a special Guest for the kids.
