19-year-old man killed when utility vehicle overturns on rural road in southern Illinois

A 19-year-old Ellis Grove man was killed Saturday afternoon when a Utility Terrain Vehicle overturned on a rural road in Randolph County, according to Illinois State Police.

His identity was not released.

The accident happened at 2:10 p.m. on Robinson Road near Smith Road, east of Ellis Grove, according to a release.

The 2017 Honda Pioneer UTV, driven by a 15-year-old boy from Chester, was traveling east when it left the right side of the roadway and overturned, the release states. The 19-year-old was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and another passenger, a 14-year-old boy from Chester, refused medical treatment, according to the release.
