More rain, cloudy skies expected through the weekend
More cloudy skies and scattered showers are expected in the metro-east Thursday.
The forecast calls for a chance of thunderstorms but not as much heavy rainfall that the area saw Wednesday night, which led to overnight flash flooding in Jefferson County in Missouri. Flash flood warnings remain in effect in Randolph County in Illinois and other areas southwest of the metro-east.
High temperatures are expected to reach 78 degrees.
There is a 30 percent chance of storms Friday with a high temperature of 80.
The forecast for the Fourth of July calls for intermittent clouds and a 40 percent chance of rain, with a high in the low 80s. Sunday’s forecast calls for a 55 percent chance of rain with a high in the low 80s, while the chance for rain extends into Monday, when the high will be 86.
