Lane closures are coming this week to allow work on Madison County interstate

Illinois Department of Transportation announced lane closures on Interstate-55/70 in Madison County for repairs.

The right two lanes on I-55/70 north between Illinois 111 and Black Lane in Fairmont City will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, according to IDOT.

“These restrictions are needed to do deck repairs on the structure,” an IDOT release stated. “DOT District 8 Operations forces will make the needed improvements. Full access will be restored as soon as possible.”

Motorists can expect delays and are encouraged to look for alternate routes, the release states.
