East St. Louis man faces sexual assault, domestic violence charges

An East St. Louis man faces sexual assault and aggravated domestic battery charges after police said he raped and choked a housemate.

Brent A. Cole, 41, was charged Wednesday with one count of criminal sexual assault and three counts of aggravated domestic battery.

The charges stated Cole forcibly committed a sexual act with a woman, identified in the charges as K.S. The aggravated domestic battery charges state Cole impeded the normal breathing and circulation of blood of the woman by applying pressure to her throat with his arm.

Cole remains in the St. Clair County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bail.
