Randolph County Courthouse closed Thursday after a reported bomb threat
The Randolph County Courthouse was shutdown on Thursday because of an apparent bomb threat.
The Illinois Secretary of State Police Bomb Squad, along with Illinois State Police District 13, and Chester Police Department, was called in around 9:14 a.m. to assist in the investigation of a potential bomb threat in the Randolph County Courthouse.
According to a statement on the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, the Illinois Secretary of State Police Bomb Squad searched and cleared the Courthouse with no indications of an actual bomb in the building.
The courthouse will remain closed for the rest of the day and will return to normal hours of operation on Friday.
The Sheriff’s Office is actively following leads to identify the source of the bomb threat, which was made via phone.
