The right lane of westbound Interstate 64 between Illinois 4 and Rieder Road in St. Clair County will be temporarily closed to allow for repair work, beginning Monday, May 23, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

“These restrictions are needed to do deck repairs on I-64 WB over Silver Creek and Little Silver Creek,” a news release stated. “IDOT District 8 Operations forces will make the needed improvements. Full access will be restored as soon as possible.”

The agency said the lane restrictions will continue through Friday.

The work is expected to cause traffic delays, and the agency is advising motorists to allow extra time or find alternative routes.
