Southwest Illinois woman killed, another injured in head-on crash in Randolph County

A Randolph County woman was killed and a Missouri woman seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash late Tuesday afternoon.

Amy J. Brown, 50, of Ellis Grove was pronounced dead at the scene, where another car crossed the center line on Illinois 3 and struck her head on, according to Illinois State Police.

Savannah N. Sunnebert, 19, of Wentzville, Missouri, the driver of the other vehicle, was airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries, a state police release said.

According to a preliminary report from state police, Brown was traveling north in a 2006 white Dodge Grand Caravan on Illinois 3 at B Road at about 4:51 p.m. Tuesday. For unknown reasons, Sunnebert, who was traveling south, crossed into Brown’s lane.

Sunnebert was cited for improper lane usage. B Road is on a mostly rural stretch of Illinois 3, about 1.5 miles south of Ellis Grove and 7 miles north of Chester.
