Edwardsville woman riding towed moped killed in crash on Collinsville Road

A 34-year-old Edwardsville woman died late Friday night in a crash on Collinsville Road, according to authorities.

The woman’s name has not been released because her family had not yet been notified as of Saturday morning, according to the Madison County Coroner’s office.

The woman had been riding on a black disabled moped without working taillights that was being towed by an ATV, according to Illinois State Police, which is investigating the crash.

Authorities said the ATV and towed moped were traveling westbound on Collinsville Road just west of Arlington Avenue in St. Clair County at about 11:38 p.m. when a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck struck the back of the ATV.

The Madison County Coroner pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

Illinois State Police said no other details were available as of Saturday.
