Man killed, three injured in two-car crash in southern Illinois

A 43-year-old man died in a car crash that occurred Saturday night in Marion County, according to Illinois State Police District 12.

A Volkswagen Beetle collided with a Nissan Altima head-on around 11:13 p.m. after crossing over from the southbound to the northbound lane on Selmaville Road, south of Lazy Acre Road, the agency said in news release on Sunday.

The driver of the Altima, which was traveling northbound, was pronounced dead on the scene. He was from Odin, Illinois, according to police. His name has not been released and there were no passengers in the car.

The driver of the Beetle and its two passengers were transported to an area hospital with injuries, according to the news release. Police have identified the driver as Audrey Pugh, an 18-year-old woman from Centralia, Illinois. The other two occupants in the vehicle, whose names haven’t been released., included an adult female and a juvenile female.

Illinois State Police are still investigating the crash, and no further information has been released.
