A man was extracted from his truck and taken to a hospital in St. Louis after crashing into a Fairview Heights home early Tuesday morning.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Justin Loepker, deputy chief of the Fairview Caseyville Township Fire Protection District, was unaware of the driver’s condition. Loepker did not know the identity of the driver.

He was taken over to a hospital in St. Louis and, as far as I know, he did not succumb to his injuries. I do not know any further details of what condition he’s in,” Loepker said.

Loepker said his department was called to the scene at 12:28 a.m. Tuesday reporting the crash and that the driver was still entrapped. Loepker said the vehicle crashed into the rear of a home off Arbor Cove on the west side of Old Collinsville Road in Fairview Heights.

“We responded and found the driver still in the vehicle,” Loepker said. “We shored up the house, extricated him and got him to the hospital. After that, it took several hours to get the vehicle out of the house without further damage.”

Loeoker said the scene was cleared just before 5 a.m. and that the homeowner and first responders on scene were not injured.

The O’Fallon Fire Department assisted on scene while the French Village Fire Department “stood by at the engine house for us in case we got another call,” Loepker said.
