Metro Bus loses control after collision and knocks hole in East St. Louis house

Provided

Shortly before midnight Thursday, a Metro Bus was struck by a car, lost control and crashed into a house in East St. Louis.

East St. Louis Assistant Police Chief Ranadore Foggs said the bus was traveling east on Marybelle Avenue, when the incident occurred. It swerved onto a property in the 800 block of North 83rd Street, flattening a chain-link fence and knocking a large hole through the side of the house.

”A white vehicle was going south on 83rd and failed to stop,” Foggs said. “His vehicle struck the bus causing it to veer into the north side of a nearby residence.

Both drivers and the homeowner who was inside the house at the time reported minor injuries.

“Everyone was taken to area hospitals via MedStar,” said Foggs.

There were no passengers aboard the bus, nor in the vehicle that hit it, Foggs said. It’s not clear if the driver of the white car has been cited since being treated for injuries.
