Collinsville boil order officially lifted days after large water main break
Collinsville lifted a citywide boil order Saturday after a significant water main break affected service to all city water customers, including homes and some schools and businesses.
The boil order officially ended at 1:15 p.m. Saturday. It had been in effect since late Tuesday, when the water main break occurred.
The break caused the city to lose water pressure and volume. Collinsville asked water customers to conserve water on Wednesday until service was restored on Thursday. But the boil order remained in effect until Saturday based on a recommendation from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s regional office in Collinsville, according to the city.
The city offered water bottles to residents who did not have access to drinking water on Wednesday and Thursday.
