St. Clair County coroner releases identity of man found dead in the Mississippi River

Authorities have released the identity of a man whose body was found floating in the Mississippi River on Wednesday near Sauget.

He is Zachary Holloran, 30, according to St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. Holloran did not have a home.

Sauget police were called about 10 a.m. Wednesday after someone reported seeing a body floating in the river, near Pitzman Street, Chief James Jones said.

Sauget police and fire personnel and several other agencies were able to pull the body ashore, Jones said.

A cause of death has not been determined. Jones said there didn’t appear to be any signs of foul play.
