Watch: Construction students from The Cave help repair Belleville Christkindlmarkt chalets

One of Belleville’s favorite holiday season events is approaching, and the community is getting ready.

This past week, 26 students from the construction class at Belleville High School District 201’s Center for Academic and Vocational Excellence partnered with Home Depot and the city of Belleville to begin sprucing up the chalets used at Belleville Christkindlmarkt.

The event on Public Square starts Nov. 25 and continues through the season.

The CAVE students and their helpers made a variety of repairs on the little buildings, which have been used for nine years. The work included painting, staining, installing new shelving and trim and other work.

Cailyn Galloway, Mark Lash, Michael Porter and other students from the construction class at Belleville High School District 201’s Center for Academic and Vocational Excellence (The CAVE), joined forces with Home Depot and the City of Belleville Public Works Department to assist in repairing the Belleville Christkindlmarkt Chalets. The chalets have been used for 9 years and needed a variety of repairs. The 9th annual Belleville Christkindlmarkt opens Friday November 25th at 9 am on the public square in Downtown Belleville with 30 vendors.
