Cooler than usual temps to be replaced by sun and high heat this weekend

Showers and thunderstorms are likely for the metro-east early Friday.

But skies are expected to clear up after noon, according to the National Weather Service.

The high temperature will reach 83, about five degrees cooler than normal for this time of year.

There is a 20 percent chance of rain Friday night when the low will drop to 69.

On Saturday, the mercury will jump up to 93 under mostly sunny skies. During the evening, there is a 20 percent chance of storms with a low of 73.

Sunday will be a carbon copy of Saturday: Skies will again be mostly sunny with a high of 93. During the evening there is a 20 percent chance of rain and a low of 75.
