A Brighton woman and two others were killed when a pickup truck ran off northbound I-55 in Scott County, Missouri, and struck a tree on Saturday night, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Mallory L. Carter, 19, a passenger in the 2002 Ford F-150, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Highway Patrol stated. The driver of the pickup, Audrey M. Smith, 20, of Bridgeton, Missouri, and another passenger, Andrew C. Marzuco, 20, of St. Genevieve, Missouri, also were killed, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Online Traffic Crash Report site. Three other passengers, all from Missouri, were injured and taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

The crash happened on northbound Interstate 55, at the 85.6 mile marker, in southeastern Missouri. The pickup truck swerved to ``miss an animal in the roadway, ran off the roadway and struck a tree,” the crash report stated.
