53-year-old Troy man reported missing in April found dead
A Troy man who has been missing since April 27 has been found dead, police said.
The body of Richard Maedge, 53, was found Sunday at about 7:30 p.m. said Troy Police Chief Brent Shownes, adding he could provide no additional details.
The Troy Police Department and Madison County Coroner’s Office are still investigating. An autopsy has been scheduled, Shownes said.
Madison County Coroner Steve Nonn’s office referred questions back to Troy police.
Family told the Belleville News-Democrat in April that Maedge went missing after leaving his Hickory Street home on a Tuesday morning. Austin Maedge, his son, said he last saw his father at his job “when he came to get a key to our storage unit.”
There has been some “family drama,” Austin Maedge said, but he does not know if that could have triggered his father to be depressed. He said it is not like his father to walk away and not come back.
“He may have been overwhelmed with what’s going on,” he said at the time. “We just want to know he is safe.”
Austin said his father enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues and that it’s not unusual for him to walk into a bar to watch the games.
