Christmas night fire destroys Cahokia Heights home

Fire destroyed a Cahokia Heights house on Christmas evening, according to public safety officials.

Firefighters from Cahokia, Prairie DuPont, Dupo, and Church Road fire departments responded to scene in the 600 block of St. Nicholas Drive. Flames extended above the roof by about 6:30 p.m.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire, according to Herb Simmons, director of St. Clair County Emergency Management. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
