Federico closes used car lot in Swansea
Federico has removed all of the cars and trucks from its lot and emptied its office in Swansea.
The Wood River-based Chrysler-Dodge dealership opened Federico Pre-owned Center at 4501 N. Illinois St. in 2012 before suddenly vacating the property during the Fourth of July weekend.
Prior to its arrival in October 2012, another used auto business known as Car Hop operated there. Before that, Enterprise Rent A Car sold used vehicles from its fleet there.
The owners of Smoothie King anticipate opening their second metro-east locale by the beginning of September. The nutritional juice smoothie chain has operated at Fire House Crossing, 3030 Frank Scott Parkway West, in Belleville for the past seven years and is expanding into a pre-existing building at 6208 N. Illinois St. in Fairview Heights. Stay tuned.

A new Dollar General store is planning to open in Belleville. Tim Johnston, vice president of NAI Desco in O’Fallon, said STL Equities LLC of Chesterfield, Mo., has closed on a 1.9-acre tract of land located at 101 Eiler Road, where the new store will be built. It is anticipated to open by the fall.
A public finance law firm has opened to clients in Edwardsville. Gilmore & Bell has set up an office inside the Mark Twain Plaza at 101 W. Vandalia St., Suite 240-D. You can reach the new firm at 618-307-4274.
St. Louis’ famous frozen custard can now be found at its airport. Ted Drewes frozen custard is available throughout Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. Three vending machines dispensing 8-ounce cups of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, Oreo cookie, Heath Bar and chocolate chip concretes have been installed at each of the airport’s concourses.
Flights to Little Rock, Ark., are returning to Lambert-St. Louis International Airport next year. Southwest Airlines is resuming the non-stop flights following a two-year hiatus. The two daily flights to Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport are scheduled for take off Jan. 6.
And finally, Midwest Twisters Gymnastics & Fitness in O’Fallon is now offering a ninja-style obstacle course for kids. The course includes cargo nets for climbing as well as in-ground trampolines for jumping, trapeze bars for swinging and climbing walls for more climbing. The fitness center at 615 N.
