After 30 years in O’Fallon, this sporting goods store will move to a new city this year

Play It Again Sports, located at 2015 W. Highway 50 in O’Fallon, will move to a new location this year.

A lease was signed for the sporting goods store at 22 Lincoln Highway in Fairview Heights, according to Fairview Heights Economic Development Director Paul Ellis.

The store’s manager, Brian Jordan, said in a brief phone interview that the move would provide “more room to expand the products we already have to offer.”

He said the current store space is “crammed pretty tight” with merchandise to accommodate as many sports as possible.

As far as a timeline, Jordan said that the store could open as early as May or June, but it will depend on how long it takes to renovate the space and pass city inspections.

The new location can be found next to the Honeybaked Ham Company across Highway 50 from Barnes & Noble Booksellers.

Play It Again Sports buys and sells new and used sports equipment and is part of the Winmark Corporation, which also holds Plato’s Closet, Once Upon a Child and other retailers.

The O’Fallon location first opened in June 1993 at 1566 W. Highway 50 in the Lincoln Crossing shopping center. The store moved to the current location at 2015 W. Highway 50 in early 2002.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. For more info, call 618-628-2345 or visit playitagainsports.com.
