A 65-year old man from St. Louis was fatally struck by a vehicle in St. Clair County near Collinsville Thursday night.

St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. said Patrick Mills was pronounced dead at the scene. Illinois State Police is continuing to investigate the incident.

According to a preliminary report released by ISP, a 2019 black GMC truck driven by Steven Ridge, 50, of Collinsville, was traveling eastbound in the left hand lane of Yale Avenue near Collinsville Road at about 6:08 p.m.

While on foot, Mills failed to yield to traffic, police said, and ran onto Collinsville Road where he was struck by Ridge’s truck. Mills was pronounced dead on the scene.
