Boil order lifted at SIUE
The boil order on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville has been lifted.
A water main break on Tuesday night required shutting down water service to the entire campus, and thus a minimum of 24 hours of boiling water before consuming it was required while the water was tested. Spokesman Doug McIlhagga said laboratory testing has found SIUE’s water safe for drinking, and the boil order is lifted. The break affected a major water line near Alumni Hall.
The boil order affected the main campus, including residence halls that currently hold 400 students during the summer, as well as University Park, Cougar Village and athletics facilities on Stadium Drive. Even during the summer months, it is estimated that about 2,000 staff members and 3,000 students are on campus.
