Everhart earned a bachelor of science degree in Agriculture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1983. From February 2014 to June 2014, Everhart served as commander of the 3rd Air Force, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. In June 2014, he took over as the 18th Air Force’s commander.
