Belleville man killed, passenger seriously injured in motorcycle crash in Missouri

A 76-year-old Belleville man died Tuesday after the motorcycle he was driving went off a Missouri road and overturned.

James D. Gillespie was taken to Lake Regional Hospital at Osage Beach where he was pronounced dead at 6:53 p.m., according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

A passenger on the motorcycle, Mary V. Gillespie, 68, also of Belleville, was seriously injured and transported to University Hospital, the patrol stated in a crash report.

The motorcycle was on Missouri 42 at Castle Road in Miller County when the accident happened. The report states that the motorcycle went off the right side of the road, struck a ``driveway entrance” and overturned, ejecting the two Belleville residents.
